PLATOON LEADER'S CLASS (PLC) PROGRAM:
PLC applies to all current college students
that will attend OCS during the summer, and
return to finish their degree. PLC comes in two
forms, one 10 week session, and two divided 6
week sessions. If you are a Freshmen or
Sophomore, you will be applying for the first 6
weeks this summer, and the following 6 weeks
between your Junior and Senior year. If you are
a Junior, you will be applying for the 10 week
session.
OFFICER CANDIDATE COURSE (OCC)
PROGRAM: OCC is a 10 week long course, of
which you will have the option to accept or
deny a commission as a 2nd Lt. upon
graduation. If you will attend OCS after you
have earned your bachelor's degree you fall
into the OCC Program. If you are a 3rd-year
law student or law school graduate, you must
apply for the OCC Law Program.
OFFICER CANDIDATE COURSE RESERVE
(OCCR) PROGRAM: This program follows the
same timeline as the OCC program however
upon completion of TBS you will become a
reservist serving one weekend a month and two
weeks a year at the geographic location of your
choice, or within the MOS of your choice.
Routes to Becoming a Marine Officer

The first step to becoming an Officer in the United States Marine Corps is to attend and
graduate Officer Candidate School. Upon graduation of OCS you must make a decision whether
or not to commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. All of the below programs will
send you to Officer Candidate School, held in beautiful Quantico, Virginia. The program you
apply for is dependent on your college experience.
