Pay and Benefits Pay: Starting annual salary is at least $46,843 and up to $65,534 depending on previous military experience, whether or not you have dependents, and your geographical location. This amount includes a Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) which is tax-free and compensates you for your cost of living expenses. Benefits: Comprehensive medical coverage provided by TriCare Prime is available at no cost to Active Duty members and their dependents. Retirement is offered after only 20 years of service. Retirement pay can be drawn at 50% of your last active duty pay rate starting the day after you retire. While on active duty, you acquire 30 days paid vacation per year. Free world travel: Active duty Service Members have the priority on military flights anywhere in the world aboard Space Available travel. Space-A travel is also available to the dependents of active duty members. Up to $400,000 in low cost life insurance is available to military personnel through Service Members' Group Life Insurance (SGLI). Recreation and fitness: Every major base has state of the art fitness centers that are free for you and your family. There are also many opportunities for Marines and their families to receive discounts on amusement park admissions, travel, and other fun activities through differnt base programs. |
